Ok guys this is a strange one and didnt think it could be possible, but at the pa this weekend me bruv came off the field after the 3-4th game with the back block of a nexus cocker loose. The ram rod was fine, but the thread in the tapped hole of the back block had been completely destroyed. The only people to take the back block off was planet during a recent service, so how the fek it sheared off is beyond me.

Any ideas

The speed that the block moves has the effect of working the threads loose if this happens the soft ali of the back block will be stripped of its thread. Only way to fix this problem is to heli-coil it.

Surely a new back block might be possible? not too much to ask for a gun costing over 1200 quid new? It cant be more than 18 months old surely?

If the back block is loctited onto the pump rod when built up, it will prevent any thread damage occurring in the future. it is the vibration and constant rubbing of the 2 parts that causes the wear and the threads to strip. Just make sure you get it in the right place initially!!!:)
It will hold the pump rod centred aswell which will cause your ram shaft to be perfectly aligned (preventing rubbing inside the ram).
Theoretically this should speed up the ram and thus the marker!!!:D

need to get hold of Tank for an exit
Another contributing factor could be the back block being too far on to the pump rod, and smacking into the body every time the marker is fired.

When the ram is closed, the back block should not be touching the body (ok, so it shouldn't be 3 inches away either, but you get the idea).

It may just be me*, but it seems that eclipse cockers are always set up with back block touching, rather than slightly gapped.

*seen a few eclipse cockers for sale with "the usual wear in the anno where the back block touches" in the description, adn seen/heard/used one or two as well.

damage to the threads of back blocks is a problem that is occuring a LOT more than it used to and this is down to one thing.....qevs
they seem to let the threads in the back block and also parts of the ram take a lot more of the impact of regular use then when a marker doesnt have them fitted.....helicoil is the way to go...i belive planet is now using a stainless insert in the blocks of the latest cockers to stop this prob..........you dont need a new block nicky will be able to sort it out for ya
