Hey guys n gals - just got my self an angel 4 it's very nice :) n i'm very happy with it and aint even had chance to shoot it yet - but here's the thing i'm on holiday as of nxt week wont be back for 8 days (2 sats away no chance to go n play anywhere) so have decided to give it the ultimate treat - i want to strip it down n give it a service (added benefit i'll know where everythin goes in case it breaks on the field)

so here's my question - wot am i most likely to need to give my new gun the love n care it deserves (never serviced a gun before an plan to start as i mean to go on - by doing everythin myself)

please let me know if anyone thinks there's anything i'm likely to need to do this job - also figure i'll be needing some lube/wotever so can someone list a few good makes

Cheers guys
Ben

Let someone else do it. Seriously. Angels are fair complicated and if you dont know what your doing or have the right tools to do it its not worth it. Send it off before you go and pick it up when your back...

You will need:

Angel Manual
Angel Toolset
Reg tester
Angel spares kit (the one that is relevent to your marker)
Quality Alan key set
Circlip pliers
Cotton buds
Grease (pref dow33)
Probably some stuff ive missed...

Thats about everything for your basic service. Be sure to follow the manual when putting the gun back together, especially the ram position (which needs to be set while the marker is aired up).

For the A4, a good setup would be: Minireg 300, Dwell 12, LPR 70, then chrono with the minireg.

Edit yeah or do what Mario says...

don't really want to send of as i figure if i do i'll be doing it every time something bad happens to it - i really wanna do it meself n see wot it's like!!

i'm gonna go through the mantenence section of the manual (printing that out now) but wondered wot else i should try n do/ what i'd be needing - not planning to do anythin super-complex just give it a bit of attention and make sure everythin is in gud nick

cheers agen,
Ben

Ok n on the off chance it all gets a bit complicated - how much am i looking at for a service??

It's all well and good wanting to get to know the gun, but a lot of it you'll never see again. I had an Speed 4 and never had anything go wrong on it. To save yourself a lot of money buying tools and reading for the sake of an older gun, send to to Tom Allen who is an Angel Tech and a very nice person as well. £25-30 will save you the hassle, and if anything ever goes wrong again you can just drop him a PM and go 'baaaaaah it's b0rked make it work' and he will*

*Not over the net, even he's not that good.

So, that's Tom Allen. TOM ALLEN. Think Angel, think Allen*
(Tom, use that and it's a tenner/a pint)

The angel is probably the most maintinence free marker around.

If you put a couple of drops of oil into the air fitting in the minireg after every time you play, it should be many months if not years between services. So its not the kind of thing you are likely to be doing often.

The list of parts that I posted above is what is required for a basic service. It really isnt hard but you have to do it right otherwise you risk reducing the markers performance.

Sorry to thread jack but any more tips on doing that ^ john?

Remove the backplate and breach rod, then air up the gun.

Insert the ram adjuster into the ram.
Repeatedly open and close the breach with one hand and with the other slowly screw the ram adjuster clockwise.
Keep screwing it clockwise until you are unable to open the breach. Now screw it anti clockwise a tiny bit so that its possible to open the breach (even if its a stuggle it doesnt matter as long as its possible to open it).

The aim is to get the ram as far forward as possible, while still having the ability to open the breach.

i see every1s point but feel that a better understanding of my marker is still gonna be beneficial so gonna read my manual anyhow :)

Oddball - u're slogan has already made it's first sale - - if Tom C is right about maintinence free marker thing than why not - i know the gun was last serviced in 04 so it probly deserves a proper lookin after by some1 with a bit of the ole' knowhow :D

Cheers guys
Ben
