While sitting down the pub a few friends and i were discussing how to make the semis and finals in concept tournaments more interesting and exciting than they already are.

The conclusion i came to was to change the field layouts after the qualifying rounds, add/remove/swap bunkers etc...

Give the remaining teams a new challenge as opposed to playing the same bunkers the same way.

What do you think and what would be the drawbacks if any??

Any other ideas?

cheers

I Agree kind of!!!!

Yeah I agree it would make it more interesting for on lookers instead of the same tactic as before on that field and makes it even harder for the qualifying team, but there needs toi be tiome for teams to re-walk the fields and for the organisers to put up the fields again!!!!!

I think in general, trying out different Sup air ball field layouts will lead to more surprising and interesting games. Currently, most field layouts seem to have the standard cylinders in the back corners, from where the back players stand shooting lots of pant blah blah. So, for example why not try replacing the back cylinders, with small rockets so the back players cant stand and shoot, or
try a pyramid in the centre, or 2 pyramids, or a snake running across the field. Change it all the time, make it fun and surprising.

The layouts would need to be play tested, as some might lead to easy victories. Get people designing layouts, give them names and descriptions of the type of game that results from the field.

After a while a set of layouts might emerge which has proven to provide the most interesting games. Organiser might standardise on these layouts and teams could learn tactics for each type of field. However, with the new tubeless systems, the combinations of obstacles and positions, provides a huge number of variations, which will keep the game fresh.

As long as the changes to the feilds for semi's/finals are planed before/as the feilds are being set up for the initial rounds, as far as i can tell there would be enough time to switch even with the connected baracades.

(well maybe anyway)
