admittiedly it is in the states and not in australia but the cow painting equipment bit was bang on....

Nelspot paintball pistol, originaly developed so forestry workers could mark trees from choppers so the loggers could come in and take them down, also used by ranchers for the same reason..... mark the ones you want burgerising from the air/distance and then the slaughtermen move in....... damn good idea considering the distances/head of cattle/trees involved.
So, lots of blokes in the middle of nowhere with guns that fire paint..... what the hell did they expect.

Nelspot was a single shot bolt action pistol, later conversion kit gave it an underslung "pump" action.
Same weapon is used as a tranq gun with another conversion, you often see it in films.

More pointless trivia: Anyone notice that half of the guns in Johny mnemonic are markers? a couple of mags and an old cocker with bits glued on.
