The Art Of War ?

How would one go about studying paintball ? - I dont mean the physical techniques or gunfighting skills I mean the arts of field layout - picking Zones to cover - player positioning - all the intelligence and knowledge led parts of the game , I've been to seminars ,Ive watched the videos and frankly maybe it's just me but non-stop bunkering montages get boring after the first fifty or so,I read the articles in PGI and pick up the info I can glean from them and I certainly listen to those who have more experience than me (although frequently everybodys an expert and a lot of them are saying different things) .

Do i need to personally find my Mr Miyagi? and is there a paintball version of Sun Tzu ?

I know a lot of people will say it's all down to experience and I understand that but i dont personally want to wait ten years to be able to turn round and say wish id known that ten years ago.

Skills I can learn but thats individual - I want to know about the game and why? ;)

play digital paintball online 2.1 :p tis a halflife 1 mod, its pritty realistic i think, version 2.2 is sheer pap, but 2.1 helps me play a bit more, i think its more to do with predicting what the other guy is gona do, when and where hes gona run, and i guess experience helps here

It's not war, it's a sport and just like any other sport, it starts to open up when you apply common sense and rational thinking to what you are trying to understand.

Firstly, set out what you want to understand.
Secondly, try and work out what influences are being bought to bear in that area, identtify them.
Thirdly, endeavour to understand the nature of those influences.

Once this has been accomplished, all you need to do is to apply common sense to variations thereof...and I would hope it is more of a science than an art, I hate art, it's bull****.

ok so i was using the art of war / Sun Tzu reference as a way of askin if there was any good material that's out there to aid the player - in any other sport (ok longer established) there's play books you can read - scientific theories available to study- there must be some basic starter points you can learn about the managerial strategic/side of the game that you can enhance with your own observation and common sense
