I know others that have had calls like this too recently. The code they ask you to install is probably some kind of malware/virus/spyware that allows them to hack your PC for personal data. Just tell the tossers to feck off and hang up.

Had this call yesterday, he was quite adamant that my computer was going to kill the internet.

I really would hate my dad to get that call. Although he's been warned not to get involved in anything over the phone ever.

I got that phone call the other week actually, I said my antivirus had it covered they just hung up.

Also one to watch out for is from a native English speaker claiming to be from what sounds like an official government agency telling you there is a bank charges rebate due to you. My wife was told she was owed just over £700, they even phoned back with a "manager" when we strung them along for a while, we had their contact details and as soon as we mentioned the police and their number in the same sentence they buggered off sharpishski.
