I kinda gathered it from context, but would anyone mind explaining why "sandbag"? I've never heard of it outside of paintball so it'd be cool to know where it comes from.

i know of sandbaggers as ex military who meet ex military and talk for hours about the good old days, painting grass green and coal black for royal visits, that kind of thing.

To downplay or misrepresent one's ability in order to deceive someone, especially in gambling.
