Royal Mail on Strike Next Week!

Just a heads up for everyone sending and receiving parcels over the next week.

Royal mail is planning a full scale strike starting as early as Sunday 18th of October.

Just got back from post office again. Strike is now officially on. Its two days, Thursday and Friday 22 and 23 of October


This will mainly be affecting London and the south. (where the laziest postal workers must live)
Letters and parcels sent by first class and recorded accross the whole country will be severely delayed.

Im still finding out how this will affect special delivery.
In the last strike all the items I sent by special delivery were only delayed by a day.


Just got some fresh info on Special delivery.
While the service is still running over the strike period they have suspended all guarantees for those two days.
So special delivery is not guaranteed if its due to arrive on Thursday or Friday.

The strike actually does start on Sunday 18th.

I just spoke to the post office and they said the strike wont affect special delivery at all, because that is done by the managers.

My feeling is that special delivery will suffer a day or twos delay in many cases.


But remember, special delivery is guaranteed for 1pm the next day (if posted before last collection).

Even if its an hour late you are entitled to a postal refund.
