Robbo joins NPPL Rules Committee
The National Professional Paintball League (NPPL) is proud to name Pete “Robbo” Robinson of London, England as the newest member on the NPPL Rules Committee.
Joining a group of highly experienced and knowledgeable individuals from the Paintball Industry, Robinson fits right in. As US editor of Paintball Games International (PGI) Magazine, he has written close to 300 articles covering wide topics within the Paintball Industry. With quite an extensive background in tournament paintball, he has played for top professional 10 Man NPPL teams such as Aftershock for three years and the All Americans for two years. Robinson is currently coaching Nexus, the English Professional Paintball Team that plays in the NPPL Super 7 World Series in the United States as well as the Millennium Series throughout Europe.
NPPL President Chuck Hendsch feels Robbo will be a great addition to the NPPL Rules Committee. Not only is Robbo an extremely talented Professional Athlete and respected Journalist within the industry, but also he represents the growing number of European Teams coming over to play with the NPPL Series in the United States. On behalf of the NPPL, Hendsch explained “we need a European representative as we’re bringing in more teams from Europe to play the NPPL circuit. That coupled with Robbo’s knowledge of the sport, open mind and sharp intuition; makes him a perfect fit.”
Camille Baker of the NPPL agrees with Hendsch and adds that “Robbo is known in the Paintball Industry to be quite fair, aggressive and passionate in matters he takes on. This strong and firm voice is the exact element the current Rules Committee needs to achieve its goals”.
We caught up with Robbo to get his feelings on being added to the board…
How did your joining the Rules Committee come about?
(Robbo) Chuck had asked if I would be interested and after I talked things over with Ronnie Kilbourne and Phil Dominguez, they persuaded me they would genuinely value any input I might give and it might be a good idea to get my ass on the committee.
It took about two seconds to consider from then on and all the guys like Glen, Ronnie, Phil and Chuck I have known for close to ten years now and having played with or against them in that time, it was an easy choice for me to work with them.
What do you feel you bring to the table that the committee may be lacking
or is in need of?
(Robbo) Hmmmm, I think I can think pretty clearly on issues and am not easily persuaded by anything other than the 'right thing to do', I don't get too flustered under pressure and have been playing in and been around the tournament circuit for over 16 years now both sides of the Atlantic.
I think that kind of experience helps when the NPPL is attracting teams from both Europe and the US in the numbers it is at the moment
Do you have any goals in mind for your initial involvement with the
league?
(Robbo) I would like to think I would be of value from my first day on board, I think I would like to go through the rule book and change what needs to be changed in the light of recent events.
I certainly would never advocate change for the sake of it, the things that need to be changed will be changed because it's the right and fair thing to do for the paying customer, the player.
If I could be just part of the process along with the others, I think I could say I have achieved something and would be very pleased.
Are there any current rules you will try to change or any new rules you
would like to implement?
(Robbo) I think I would need to look at the rules in detail to assess what particular rules I would like changed but I think would be led by the other guys on the committee in the initial stages as to what rules need to be looked at and maybe refined.
Any long-term goals?
(Robbo) With regard to my position on his board, I think my long terms goals would be to produce a rule book and accountability system that meets everybody's approval, it just remains for the implementation and management of both to be effected fairly and professionally.
I believe the guys on the board can now achieve just that.

Joining Robbo, the NPPL Rules Committee consists of Tom Cole, Glen Forster, Ron Kilbourne, Phil Dominguez and Chuck Hendsch. The Committee meets regularly on issues regarding the rules of play in NPPL sanctioned tournaments.
Please join us in congratulating Robinson and thanking him for accepting this challenging position. The next NPPL Super 7 World Series event will be held November 7 – 9, 2003 in Miami, Florida. For more information on the NPPL, visit www.nppl.tv <http://www.nppl.tv/> or call (714) 536-9050.
