Rifled barrels

ciaran.mooney

Ich bin ein Berliner!
They dont work. AGD did some research, found that rifled barrels done really do enough to justify using them.

They explination they use is that even though the shell spinns the fill stays in the same place, so the "gyroscopic" accuracy they are meant to give doesnt work. Kinda like ice in a coke glass, when you move the glass around the ice stays in the same place.

Armson did(and may still) make rifled barrels,I have one on an old Icon Z1 that seemed to work quite well, but if it was down to the rifling or just the tightness of the bore I'm not sure.
I might have it converted to `Cocker threads and see if its still any good,it certainly looks good...and that more important than accuracy isn't it.

Armison RULED!!!!

but ciaran.mooney is right, after the pressure of the gas/air has beaten the crap out of the ball and turned it into a mini american football the helix does diddly squat.....

but isnt this game about lookin gud???

I think Durty Dan mentioned that the rifling is cut into the barrel on the Armson, and so works like porting. So it makes the barrel quieter, but doesn't actually work in the way they advertise (but then we all knew that firearms ballistics and paintball are two different things) :D

If you got a tippmann then you can add the flatline barrell to it. That is what I have and it does a good job.

If you are looking for a rifle (long) barrel, I take it you are doing rec balling (woods) and not sup air. For sup air you need a more compact gun but I do play with my tippy sometimes on sup air and have no problems but i have to stay at the back. Otherwise it is spot on for woods

neddyboy - you should ask tippmann for a job, the amount of time youve spent plugging that flatline barrel anyone would think you invented it.

i know its done wonders for ya gun tho, so i can understand why.
from old site gun, to fearsome rec-baller gun. not bad.

there is a lot of people who slate the flatline but without ever seeing or using it. But if it is set up correctly (thanks to tiny) you wont have a problem. I want to get a Revoltuion 12v Blue X-board hopper next (is it worth getting) and how much should I be looking to pay for one. I've seen one for £49.95.
