I keep on reading that you should not keep your air tanks presurised between games, ie let the air out between each time you play. What's the reasoning behind this ?

Between games or between days you are playing.

Would be a NO on both counts as keeping you bottles pressurised means no air can get INTO the bottle ( as it's higher pressure inside ).

Normal air may have moisture level thus leading to rust forming inside the bottle.

Same as for SCUBA tanks etc.

i'd say always have some pressure in the bottle, for the reasons above. steel bottles will rust internally if damp atmospheric air gets in, even fibrewraps as the aluminium liner will oxidise too, all-be-it to a lesser extent.

plus, if it's a stako, they recommend always keeping around 1k psi in there - helps keep the plastic liner in tiptop shape.
