I felt compelled to write this review of ‘Combat Paintball LTD’, Thetford, after experiencing a very enjoyable day at one of there rental/walk-ons.

A little about me, I’ve been playing now for 2 years, purchasing my own equipment towards the end of last year I’m now making efforts to attend Big Games and Walk On’s in 2011. I don’t claim to know anything or everything and I’m not comparing this site to others that I’ve visited, just stating what I found enjoyable about the whole experience.

I was stuck for a game on the 2nd Jan, many of the places I rang around were closed. I’d been brought 10k of paintball’s for Christmas (5 people all thought the same thing), so was preferably looking for a Walk On. Couldn’t find one, so rung these guys and I’m thankful I did. (ended up not using my paint)

The Site consists of around 7 playing scenarios, and the general format is that each match that is played is then reversed.

Hard to find where to start, but ill start with the bad points and build up to the good part J.

The drainage of the Fields isn’t good at all in places, and at times I found myself wanting to move and not being able too, this is something they are looking to resolve in the near future.

So the Good bits J.

The fields were varied and big, being a Combat Paintball site, its slightly different to what I usually experience as a paintballer. There is an emphasis more on a rush in, forceful game rather than a tactical game, the latter of which I prefer.

The marshals were all trained and knowledgeable both in the layout of the fields, safety and checking. All of them carried radios, and were positioned well so that they could check and communicate between themselves.

The markers, (Tippman 98’s) were all fully functioning on an Air System, including Safety’s.

All players were provided with a Battle Pack and Snood among your obvious equipment. For 50p players could purchase some anti-fog to last them for the day, and if anyone had ear troubles, ear plugs were free.

The safety briefing was very in-depth but was made to be enjoyable (as much as a safety briefing can be) in a relaxed environment where quality was paramount.

Prep area was covered, with benches and plenty of room for all players. Player number wise, there was a Turn-out of 50 which was a low average compared to their usually numbers I’m told.

The shop they had on site, was good for price and quality.

Instruction on Pyros was excellent (never having used Pyros before) and the price of these I found to be good enough for you not to have to hold back and watch your money blow/smoke away.

Price of everything was fair and was matched with the quality expected. For £57.50 you could get yourself 4 Pyro’s, 1k Paint, Lunch and all your Gear. They offer a Membership for £7 (one off) for some ‘Dog Tags’ which entitles you to a free pot of paint every-time you go.

Sportsmanship was congratulated and encouraged, when seen by the Marshalls.

Lunch albeit not included in your package price (but added to the price above), was of a good value and the system used was of an organised one. They cater for Dietary needs.

Played 8 games over the course of the day (4 fields reversed), depending on the play depended on how long the games lasted. Marshalls let the Game’s run if things were moving forward (minimum game length 10 – 15 minutes) .

There was never a rush, everything was taken in sted and everybody enjoyed themselves amazingly. Team’s were given the opportunity for quick photo shoot, and pictures then appeared on FaceBook about 2 hours after the game ended.

Progression for these guys looks to be good in the future. They’ve just opened a new site at Northwold and that site will hopefully have 2 Sup Air Field (MS Size) later on this year, thetford is going to have a make over in terms of the fields and drainage.

If you’re stuck for a day, id heavily recommend this quality site, where paintballer’s come first.

Happy New Year,

Sole
