Ive had a lot of questions about this already so ill make a post.
If you hate the new MSN (its realy poorly designed) and want to revert to an older version without being forced to upgrade heres how.
Uninstall the new one.
Download your prefered version
8.0 here > http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=d78f2ff1-79ea-4066-8ba0-ddbed94864fc&displaylang=en
8.5 here > http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=7a1aae73-48cc-4f7a-b445-0487bd5e84ef&displaylang=en
Install it.
Go to the install directory, either
or C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger for 8.0
C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Messenger\ for 8.5
if your on 64 bit windows they will be in Program Files (x86)
Right click the msnmsgr.exe and select properties.
In the compatability tab, select "run this program in compatability mode for" and then choose windows 2000.
