If you use compressed air you will need a reg to take the pressure down from say 3000psi to 800psi, this would be your "main air-reg". A front reg, usually regulates 800psi from the main air-reg or CO2 down to a lower pressure, or it could be a reg designed to keep CO2 pressure fluxuations stable.

for buying one you could do one of two things: you could get one specially for your marker, or you could get one that you could transfer to your next marker if you have thought that far ahead. Saves money doing it the second way you see. But the 1st way increases the sale price (if you sell it). Think it over and decide which is best for you.
