I now have to choose what regulation setup I should have on a bushmaster.

Choice one is a Smart Parts maxflow with a gas thru grip.

Choice two is to get a centerflag preset tank and put a centerflag inline regulator on the gun.

Which choice would you go with?

Id go with the max-flo over the centerflag. Max-flos are dead on consistant meaning no more chrono worries!

ok

I have heard that a preset tank might cause problems for an inline regulator because the in-pressure is to high for the inline. Is this true and if so how big is the problem?

It's not that big of a deal. As mentioned, you can get the 450 psi output from Crossfire or NitroDuck and be quite well set. I currently use the 800 psi output Crossfire into a WDP reg on my Cocker with no problems whatsoever, and I think such would work well with a Bushy as well. Maxflow inlines are expensive but VERY VERY effective. You could just settle for the stock reg if ya still have it and use the 450 psi output screw in, as that's what they were made for in the first place.
