I lent an airbottle to a team mate. He put it on an ego but cross threaded it. When he finally manage to twist the bottle off the asa the metal section of the top of the reg had partially twisted off.

I dont generally like messing round with my kit so needless to say i haven't touched the thing especially when there are stories about tanks exploding and threads failing on regs etc.

What is the safest way to drain the rest of the air from the bottle so that i can send it back?

Is there another, safer solution?

Steve

edit: the part i'm referring to is where the thread is at the top of the bottle (where the little Pure Energy logo is) as can be seen here:

if a reg gets stuck into an asa, my best solution is:

drain the bottle by disconnecting the macroline, and slowly turning on your ASA to let the air drain.

then pick up....

1 x Rubber Mallet
1 x Dishcloth

Lightly tap the fill nipple anticlockwise as if undoing a bottle, this will knock it loose and you can remove the rest of the air system by hand, do not EVER let the tank drain from it's threads within the tank whilst still attached to a marker.

The way i solved it was this:
As per Piper's instructions: unscrew one of the burst discs slightly until it starts hissing. Wait for 5-10mins while the air drains and then I send it to someone who knows what they're doing.

Of all the things, can't say i like messing with stuff that has the possibility of going bang

Cheers for all the info
