What's the best solution to filling an airtank when one is offsite? I'm looking to get a marker soon, and want to know I can top it up at home if I want to test something.

Not realy worth the effort
Once you've played bring some air home and you'll have enough for testing
To try it out when you receive it PPP to your local site and they will let you check it out on the range

For true home fills it would be a scuba cylinder plus your own scuba to paintball fill rig
Much cheaper to buy extra cylinders and get more fills when on site

Depending on your gun, it's its not electric then disposable co2 could be used.
Eg a 12 gram and adaptor is best as it will give 20+ shots allowing for test and removal to do any fix

88gram disposables are also available but not ideal for testing as if you need to do something then you've got a much bigger cylinder to go through before you can take it off - or take it off and lose all the co2
