Wear jogging pants because those deflect a lot of hits and absorb 90% of the feeling of ones that don't bounce. Also, if you can find one, get a yellow mask so that you're more easily distinguishable as a referee. Those Wicked Mpulse, Raven, or Animal ref jerseys are also a good idea, or if you can't do that wear a hunter orange shirt. A spray bottle and straight shot squeegee for helping people are also in order. Pretty quickly you'll learn the shooting lanes so you avoid getting hit and know where to expect the action to happen. Don't let players use you as a bunker. Don't stand too close to them so you don't give away their positions. Carry peppermints to soothe your throat so you can keep shouting "HEY, KEEP YOUR MASK ON!" and "BARREL PLUGS IN AND I MEAN RIGHT NOW DON'T GO GET A DRINK OF WATER DO IT NOW OR THERE WILL BE NO TONGUE IN YOUR MOUTH WITH WHICH TO ENJOY IT." as often and loud as needed. Oh, and have a pocket size tool kit so you can fix guns on the field and/or immediately coming off of it.
