Rechargeable battery for Ion

I've got an SP Ion but want to use rechargeable batteries is this ok and what "mAH" do I need.

Voltage needs to be 9 or 9.6V.

mAH needs to be as high as you want to splash out on really. mAH is the life of the battery, the higher the mAH, the longer it will last.
