hi guys i was going to attend NPF's a-ball academy try outs this weekend, but after speaking to them and learning that they are planning on using reballs, my mind is now a little hessitant as to whether or not i should be firing cheap and nasty rubber balls through my top end PE Geo 3.

i have heard nothing but bad news about these reballs and how they can ruin the internals of your marker, if any one has any experience or input as to what their really like, if you could also let me know what marker you have tried them through that would be immensly usefull.

cheers!

Personally, i'd never use them other than testing things out. They are quite small and will wear down your detents - so remove them if using them. But if you remove them, then urm... my ones are shedloads smaller than .675 so they'd roll out.

I use reballs (pretty much every main brand of reball, I think, including A-balls ) a lot.

The run through my geo 2. Just fine. No wear or tear on the inside. A little bit of dust on the bolt at the end of the day, It depends on how clean they keep them I'd say, we take a break at lunchtime to wash them all so that reduces the dust build up .

I`ve had first hand experience of seeing a lense crack, and the barrels scored within making them No good to shoot paint through, so make sure you use a secondary barrel, We were asked to lower the FPS to 220 which seemed to be ok for some Gat`s , But using a Geo we found that we needed to up it to 230 so it would fire properly, the Ego`s were ok though, on the Geo`s and other spoolies basis, everybody upped to 230 Fps, then we found why shoot at the guys behind the bunkers when you can bounce them off the bunkers next to them and the walls going down the side not to mention the ones coming back at you from the wall behind. For me and others this was a huge NO NO. . . Bluey

if they are kept perfectly clean then they are absolutely fine but obviously this is harder said than done. dont know how well npf clean their reballs but as mentioned above the best precaution to take is just use a cheapy barrel in case it gets scratched up. as for performance issues, if you want them to act exactly like paintballs...well you need to buy paintballs! otherwise embrace the cheap cost and go play :)

The thing is with Re-Balls is that they are Great when they come out of the box as New and fire very well as when you first play at an indoor arena coming straight out of a dustbin size bin for everybody to load up and use, then when it comes to being empty everyone stops and a squeegy type broom goes around scooping them up into a corner then put back into a bin , then taken to a washing Machine / Tumbler to be washed, these are then placed into a dryer, then put back into the bin for the players to carry on playing ( usually a few bins ) Now this should be fine, except .. The balls being made of a foam / Rubber holds the water in the middle of the ball , sure !! they feel and look dry but if not completely dry they Now become heavier, hence the reason why most only fill half of their hoppers because the weight now can`t drive the amount you had before. The best balls to use are the ones that get caught up in the netting at both ends of the hall, Providing they have netting that drapes down to catch them. when a new bin has been brought in make sure you Chrono again, you should see what I mean. I think the concept of using Re-Balls is a great Idea if only they could be cleaned Dry.

Use Original Reballs. Totally worth it. I have been training so much with them in outdoor and they works great. No lubes just each three days give them a shower. My configuration was empire axe with boss bolt and prophecy z2. Rotor is a pain in the butt.

Guys at pe said they should be fine as long as cronoed to 230 so yeah I guess sounds ok, but hearing about the potential things that could go wrong, as well as things that are out of my control e.g. clenlines of balls etc. I think il give them a miss and go fire some good old fashioned paint :)

Cheers for all the input and advice!

Nothing to be worried about using A-Balls down at NPF, Volatile have been training regularly down there with Geo's and Ego's.

Only problem is reballs/aballs do not go well with some of the rotors. Some worked fine, others just got fustrating.
