How racially diverse are the fields where you play? I only ask because it struck me the other day that the only black player I have seen at my local field is one of the referees. My city has a large black population but I never see them out at the fields and wonder why? My field advertises in areas that are usually seen by most of the general population and I don't think it's a matter of cost, so why the small number of black players? Any thoughts? Is it like this everywhere? On the tournament footage I have seen, I don't believe that I have seen any either. We might be missing an untapped source of talented players here.

well there is dave stewart, and shieed of infiltrators they are asian and run a site and play. I have noticed a few chinese players around as well.

We very rarley get rec ballers either and there's the new guys with big van's and immpys sorry lads gordon and his son and some mates. Still a very small slice of society it's the same with motor bikes very few coluored bikes either shame really.

I think it's highly variable by region, simply a probability within a population. From there, it's a chicken-egg cycle: if there are different kinds of people there, there will be more because they fit into the picture and/or have their similar friends there. If no one there is like them and/or familiar to them, then chances are they won't want to be either, and so the cycle continues.

Most weekends we have at least one coloured player at foxwood but on a whole i would say that there are less then 1% of coloured players at our site. Your right it is strange maybee these ethic groups see paintballing as a waste of money.

I've played rec' against several groups of young black and asian guys at Mayhem and Campaign. I have to say that the experience was less than stellar. Wiping and playing on, dead men talking and overshooting were common. Now, before you flame me, I know other people do the same, but it was consistent throughout the days play and no isolated incident. I don't want to judge anyone by the colour of their skin ( I'm a minority in my home country and face more than enough prejudice) but I have to call it like I see it. Not to mention the number of times I was told "my ass was capped, knawhatI'msayin? "

Don't know why so few black guys play ball. Holland is one of the most color-diverse countries around but the only black person on our home field is a marshall too.
Team Rapid Fire from another town in here is almost entirely composed of Indonesians. Frikkin shadowplay ninjas those guys, all of them dressed in black.

This is an issue hardly worth fretting over. It's simply just the way it is...Same way that there are hardly any black race car drivers or ice hockey players. Or white basketball players, and so on...

Darkwerks, I've seen the sort of behavior that you are referring to. It has however nothing to do with colour of skin, but more with social background. If it's a group of people from a neglected neighborhood, than you can expect this sort of behavior, because that's the way a lot of them grew up. I've seen it happen with a lot of the North African people that show up on sites here in Holland, when they go for a day of being a punter with, for instance, their football club (which nowadays are becoming more and more segregated along ethnic lines, dependant on what part of town they come from). So it would be easy to say that all North Africans behave that way, but i have seen at least as many who behaved in an examplary fashion. Also, I have seen the same ****ty behavior from 'all white' parties, mostly the ones that come from the Dutch equivalent of redneck country. So a lot of it is down to sociological influences.
Do you know who the worst possible bungholes are to have on a site? The police....seriously.

Hey now. We police don't get to lump everyone together, so don't lump us all together. I tend to agree that behavior tends to have a class bend. A "you are where you were" type of effect. I see that all the time in housing complexes. It is no wonder how these people act after growing up there. Problem is, only way to fix it is to stop letting people breed until they prove that they can raise a responsible human being and apparently that is thinking too far out of the box. Bad behavior is definitely not a race issue.

Seriously, all the cops I've seen at a site were all behaving like maniacs! Shooting eachother during, before, and after game on, lifting their goggles, cheating, the works. But I'll admit that it's probably because a lot of those guys are under a good amount of pressure when working, and they found a good valve to blow off some steam with (well, that's what some of them told me anyway). Still, they were a bitch to keep in check for the marshalls...
And you police types DO lump everyone together: Us (the police), and them...

Well what am I meant to call a member of an ethnic minority(or majority depending on where you reside).
I used the term as a generalisation instead of saying people of asian, afro-Caribbean, afro-american, arabian, etc.
All these 'PC' terms are getting ridiculous, I mean its okay for a a person of african descent to call a person of european descent a 'honky' but not okay for the european to use the 'N' word.
And why should I be called a racist just because I choose to fly my nations flag with pride or sing Jerusalem when I feel like it. Most nations encourage national pride and yet the British government attempt to stifle it unless you are Scotish, Welsh or Northern Irish.
