I've just earned the privilege to now buy but how does it work if I want something I tell the person he gives me his bank details and I send him the money and does he cover the p+p or do I add a bit more for that.

Sorry for the silly question

Normally the seller will indicate if the sale price includes postage, if not then negotiate an 'all in' price.
If paying by PayPal you have to factor in the additional fees eg if someone wants £10, you will have to send £10.56 to cover fees and click on the 'goods' tab on PayPal.
This gives you buyer protection. There's plenty of websites that will calculate exactly how much you have to send in order to cover the correct fees and for the seller to receive the correct amount

With PayPal & fees if an 'all in price' is agreed I would expect that to be the amount you pay

If the all in price is £10 then you would pay £10, PayPal take 3.4%, the seller pays postage

If it's £10 plus fees then make sure you pay more to clear the fees. If the seller wants a 'personal payment' don't
It would allow you to choose the option to pay fees, but is not meant for purchasing and you don't get the full protection of a quick refund in a dispute

Use an online PayPal calculator to work out fees

Avoid paying by bank transfer - there is no protection
If you realy know the person, or you are willing to take the loss if it goes wrong then you can go for a bank transfer and save 2.4%
But it's a tiny amount

If receiving money note that even when it arrives in your bank balance there are different types of 'cleared' in banking, how long it takes varies between the banks involved. It is possible for you to see the money and withdraw it but still have the payment bounce, possibly making you withdrawn and losing the item sold - make sure you are aware of the true status when using bank transfer

Agree with the advice above... and would strongly insist you never share or use Bank Accounts. Aside from the risks with identity theft, in the event of an issue the return of funds would be problematic. With Paypal there is an established process for reporting issues and getting your payment back (I have used this a couple of times)

So setup / use Paypal, paying the fees givse buyer confidence, so always remember to pay these to give you that protection
