Question about N vs. S game

What exactly was the North versus South war? Was there even a war, or did you guys just make up two team and called them north and south? I know here in the yank states, we had the civil war, between the north and south, and every now and then, people have "civil war" rec games with the north as a team and the south as a team. I was just wondering what your north and south represented.

I think it was just based on players who lived north of Birmingham and those who lived south of it in the UK! One of the organisiers uses these boards so I'm sure he'll clarify that.

The English civil war was centuries ago - something to with those loyal to the king of England and those who wanted him out. I think it was between Cavaliers and Round Heads! But my history is very rough - there'll probably be some educated person on the board who'll know - or studied it at school!

Theres a very strong (un)friendly rivalry between people from the North and South. Northerners think the Southerners are soft, Southerners think the Northerners are drunken, inbred, thieving job-dodgers( no offense )
