question about halo B

I have a question about the batteries in a halo B. the halo B takes six AA 1.5v batteries which are fairly heavy, my questions is this why can't you just use a 9V batterie?

I e-mailed the halo B people about this and they said that "It's not a matter of the voltage. It's the current. The 9 volt battery
doesn't produce anywhere near the current needed by the HALO."

Does any one know what that means in english, because I put a 9V in there and it worked fine

Put it in car terms....it has the BHP, but lacks the torque...:)

It just means the amps of the 9v isn't enough to keep it going under constant spinning.

halo B

ah ok. well I've been reading this forum and it seems your the man to ask, but is there any way you could come up with a way of putting say two 9V batteries instead of the six AA batteries which are fairly heavy??

I've posted this before... the internal resistance of 9v batteries is quite high, and therefore are of no use in high-drain applications. Since the Halo motor is spinning under resistance, you need a cell capable of high current output. 6 AAs are a good start. :D

if there was a way then i would have thought OPP would have thought of that... But even 2 9v batteries would probably not provide enough current, however surely it would be too much for the board to handle, (18v i mean)

someone correct me if im wrong

I know what you guys mean, it's just that when I got my halo B I was a bit disappointed about the fact that the batteries weight so much. and seeing the 9v clip on thingy (thingy is techincal speak don't you know) I started thinking about the 9V

Did you know that both the evo II fully and the Halo B when fully loaded with paint weight about the same!!!

And even so the halo aint that heavy, if you think its that bad get yourself down the gym, our front guys can handle Halo's fine and they make stick's look fat!!!
