:eek:My parents are telling me that i should not buy my own equipment as i will not use it enough. I would be using it about 5-10 times a year excluiding any tournaments or big games i decide to enter should i get some cheap stuff like an icon x ??:confused:

My girlfriend has said the same to me but it is hard not to buy stuff once you get hooked..

I've been to one newbie tourny and that's it I want everything.

Looking to get the best marker I can afford.

Ofcourse get a decent mask first number 1 in my book.

Well if you don't plan on playing alot just buy cheap gear that can still compete. So a steeley, pmr and a reloader/egg. It's good enough to compete without being stupidly expensive. But yeah, don't skimp on a mask even if you plan on just using it at a rental site occasionally, well worth the extra cost.

It is worth informing your parents, that while playing as a punter can cost you £40+ for a day with say £500 paintballs, when you have your own kit, costs can come down. Paint is cheaper for greater quantities, etc.

If you join a team, it will be very rewarding to play tournaments and your kit will get used.

Really, you need to work out a realistic budget that you are allowed/i] to spend on equipment, then work out what you can afford.

Buy secondhand.

Heres the winning list to buy first to last;

Mask (go for the best you can afford to save buying a new one later on)
Playing Gear (go second hand to begin with)
Hopper (Go for high end saves re-buying)
Air Tank (Preferably new so you have it for 5 years)
Marker (Best to what you can afford and what you like).

May take time but in the end it will save you money whilst you train/play.
