QEVs + 38 Special Ram = Bad mix?

So I cant seem to get my rear eclipse QEV to seal properly on my 38 special ram - OK, I haven't tried PTFE yet (hate the stuff with a passion) but basically, the problem is that the thread seems too long to screw in to a decent place - to get it sealed, it ends up binding on the ram internals.

Anybody else come across this and solved it, or do I need to
A; resort to PTFE
or
B; get some proper loctite thread-locker, instead of the cheap crap I have currently?

So it's time to spend some cash? dammit

There is of course, the fact that I'm cacking it about putting thread locker near my ram as well - visions of it dripping inside and screwing it up for ever are already haunting me...

Dont turn it up the wrong way, stand the marker up level when the thread lock is drying...use strong thread lock, help it dry with a hairdryer...dont gass it up til its ready..or just get a 44ram instead

get some green loctite from planet, 'bout £4 for a 3 ml tube, lasts ages tho and is strong!!
