My best friend of many years recently had a little baby boy, born six weeks early with a massive inoperable brain tumor, which was 4.5cm across, and extended into Toby's spinal cord. He never had a chance.
It was far and away the most heartbreaking thing I have ever had the misfortune to witness, I hope no one ever has to go through what my best mate and his wife went through.
Baby Toby lasted a mere 17 days and was buried on sunday past in our local church.
I am taking donations to go to the two intensive care units, who looked after him so well, and made sure his first and final days on this earth were as comfortable for him as was possible given the circumstances.
The nurses in both wards do a fantastic job, and don't get paid anywhere near enough for the job that they do, and the comfort they offer to both child and parents is unmatched. The travesty is the government has provided 12 beds but will only pay 8 nurses and each bed must have a dedicated nurse available 24/7. this means that terminally ill children and their parents must be redirected to either dublin or brimingham. to make things worse, the single helicopter flight for one child costs more than a nurses wage for a whole year, as the equipment required is so vastly expensive and a helicopter flight is so traumatic.
if anyone wants to donate, please send the money via paypal to

I will be covering all applicable fees, so that every possible penny can go to the paediatric intensive care units in Craigavon area hospital, and the Royal Victoria hospital, Belfast.
