I had a thought earlier,

We are always saying that we want the public at the tournaments we play but they have very little chance of attending they are not told about it and it's held in a field a million miles from civilisation. We only tend to advertise events on this forum and paintball magazines, what if we could hold events in a towns sports ground and put posters, leaflets, adverts in local papers around the town. This would get a lot of people there most would probably just look about for a bit and go home but it would raise the awareness of the tournament side of paintball and attract local press and new sponsors.

I am aware that this would cost money and time, but I'm sure if players would pay an extra £5 or so on their entry. Obviously I'm not an expert on the costs incurred in this kind of thing but it's looking into.

Cheers Dan

Heaven's Gate will be an exercise in this kind of promotion. The event will be advertised on FIRE FM and we are approaching newspapers and TV. Leaflets and posters will be distributed throughout Bournemouth and Poole. Spectators will receive a progam for the event and will be able to attend the first part of the evening party on the Saturday night.

You are absolutely right Dan - we haven't got this kind of promotion right in the UK yet, but this event will be a tester for it and best practice will be passed on to other tournament organisers.

Have Storm booked in yet?

If all organisers could try and commit to hosting their events in stadiums etc and promote their event to the public, this would have a knock on affect with T.V channels wantin a piece of the action as more and more people attend to spectate the events.

The way the American's host their tournaments should be coppied over here, it's the best way to let people kno wot paintball is about because it's right in there face in front of them!

Hopefully if events were to be in stadiums etc then in about 2-3 years we would have a much larger pool of players to actually win sumthin 'across the pond' ;)

Well said Mak D. The only issue is that in the mean time, players have to pay the game fees required to hold tournaments at these venues. But the events are usually worth it in my opinion.

So, the venue and the promotion is important to gain public awareness. Now that the standard of events in the UK is fairly high, it is time for the organisers to shift their focus to these issues.
