PSP vs NPPL, Round 4

NPPL: Long rumored to be New York--even hinted at some super high profile venues--now sounding like it might turn out to be in Jersey. Final word is coming soon. Does it matter if it ends up Jersey side? Does anybody look at the venues--assuming the basics are more or less equal before deciding what to do?
Also, once the venues are announced if you live nearby or know the area give us the 411.
PSP: a park in Philly. Apparently close to lots of things including the airport. Pictures posted at PSP website look pretty nice.

Who's winning the venue war?

How much do the potential diversions around a tournament's location matter? I mean, New York sounds tres kewl but NYC is packed 10 deep in peeps and alot more expensive than lots of ballers are used to. Is it a good venue area? How 'bout Philly? Sure, if you're looking to bump PB's profile big city locations sound perfect but has it played out that way? Is it putting too much pressure on the promoters and jacking up the costs unnecessarily?
Let's hear it, kids.

10 deep people is a good thing. An audience for competitive paintball helps, as people get used to the idea only after seeing it. Being in NYC would help because there are so damn many people to expose to paintball as something other than the camo/war-simulation/really-fun-but-not-serious thing.

I don't care about diversions. I want spectators. Not the other teams girlfriend, not the reps from the sales booth on their break, not teams that are about to play one of us, but people watching paintball to watch a sports event.

New York is expensive, and that is a drag. But, if it brings more spectators, I am for it. HB was a step in the right direction. We have to get this thing where the peeps are, not out in the cow pasture behind the industrial park 2 miles before where Blackburn's barn burned down in '88.

As long as the playing surface is good and there's someplace that serves good beer, I'm set. Given the prevolence of restaurants in most places, it really just comes down to playing surface. The only thing I do at events is 1) Play 2) Harass potential sponsors and 3) Sleep. That's all I have time for.

I think there were a lot of paintball players who were just out to see paintball (not actually playing the events) at both of the Chicago events. Outside of those spectators though, I'd rather see money spent on fixing the reffing problem before it's spent attracting non-paintball spectators. Couldn't care less who is watching the game if it ain't being officiated correctly. (Not that I've really had BAD experiences with officiating, but there's still some tightening-down to be done.)

I don't think most players get more than a hop-skip-and-a-jump away from the event. Leave the late-night partying for Red. ;) Although I did get over to Epcot at Cup last year, but that was mainly just to keep the girlfriend from killing me. ;)
