Proto vs Dye

What's the difference between the DM5 and the Proto 05 ? What is the relationship between the 2 companies ?

Proto is like a subsidiary of Dye. Dye releases their mid range, economy priced items under the "Proto" name and reserves the "Dye" name for their high end tournament gear, traditionally. The difference between the Proto and DM4/5, I think, is basically cosmetic.

Proto electronics are different, DM5 has the same 'leccy's as the DMfizzle and is therefore more easily upgraded.

The basic premise is the Proto is the standard 'Trix all dressed up and the DM5 is a shorter DM4
