So slightly newbie question but I have picked up the Proto Rail 2011 as a get you buy marker for the time being and was just wondering what barrels can I purchase to change from the marker standard? My knowledge on barrels is very limited so any help or links would be perfect. As I understand, I need an Autococker threaded barrel.....is that right? :)

Thanks

Got myself the same marker and was wondering this as well the other day, but yes you are right that is an auto-cocker threaded barrel. From the advice I got, there's loads of options that you can go with. There's the two piece barrels like the Dye UltraLite barrels and the Shaft 4 barrels from Planet Eclipse, which have the bore size set as the back piece of the barrel. There's also the one piece barrels from Vangaurd, which do require a back to screw the barrel into as well, but are cheap even from brand new. Have a look on the Vanguard site under accessories and you'll find them. Finally there's the full barrel kits/bore kits like the freak kit or Empire revolver kit, which are similar to the two-piece barrels, but you have an insert which goes inside the back piece of the barrel to match the paint you shoot.
I'm still undecided but i'm going to try a few out next time I'm training and see which performs best for me, but hope this helps you out :)

It is Autococker/ A/C threaded.
Most barrels mentioned above will fit just fine, personally on a rail i would use the stock and save up for a better gun but thats just me. All the best.

In my honest opinion I would recommend the vanguard barrels as a cost effective way of allowing a closer bore to paint match, which will give you better accuracy.
