proto/dye slider shorts?

in the pictures of the proto slider shorts that i have seen they appear to have less padding than the dye slider shorts, do they have less padding, or is it just the pictures? how do the proto shorts compare to the dyes?

go for the Dye one's

the Proto one's are nice, but the material doesn't match the quality of the Dye one's
