the proteus.

im looking for a new pair of goggles for tourneys as my ize are now a hideous mess. ive herd some people saying they are a bit small on the chin but im a small guy. im wondering if anyone has a pair and if they could tell me what they are like. its either them or another pair of ize.

I dont have a pair but there meant to be really good. They are meant to be smaller than other masks so your profile is smaller and less of a target, the chin piece is just closer to the shaper of your chin. And you probably fold the plastic on the IZE up dont you? (admit it!) Everyone does, so i wouldnt think you'd be bothered by a small chin.

You can hear better with the Proteus cos they have just made some holes on the ear protectors - they had a problem with that but i think they've fixed that now.

in my opionion i dont like the new pair theyve done the bottom is hardly flexible atall and it sometimes does catch on the chin, i prefer my flex 7's any day of the week. hope this helps. c if u can test a pair first to c if u like em

My brother just got a pair, and he loves them. He said it's easier to hear and breathe out of 'em, and well, what more can you ask for? I'm sure you've taken a couple in the mouth and neck with your Ize on anyway, so I also doubt the mouthguard will make much of a difference in that respect. I've been trying to rationalize buying a pair for myself. My seven week old son is cutting into the old paintball funds a little though . Good luck Shifty.

I love my Proteus! The only complaint I have is that when JT did the recall they attached the headstrap to the lens rather than at the back of the mask. I don't mind the close chin, but I'm a small guy too. I took off the visor and just wear a hat underneath, it is a little goofy looking. Dunno, just like the closeness of it. The lower is harder than on an ize and I have seen them (the ize) as low as $30 stateside so if money's a factor...

Well, you'll know for sure soon enough, but mine covers my chin with my mouth closed but with cathin flies I give about a 1/2" of target.

i have just ordered a pair of proteus and they will be here at the end of the week i think the flex is a bit stupid people fold them up get shot in the chin and cry my spectra 260s were better than ice i got shot in the chin a couple of times and i bounced buy em
