was playing today in a game of rec and for the 1st time ever was having probs with barrel bursts on my cocker with the freak on. couldn't understand it at all. at 1st i thought it was cos i was outrunning the revvy but even slowing down it was still doing it. chronic soup everywhere!
it was only when i got home and disassembled the barrel that i saw that the O ring that holds the insert in place was missing and consequently the insert was not seated correctly and was breaking the paint in most cases.
has anyone else had this problem? or is it just a once off?

my boss and his team (redz) have had problems with this also, this is why i have a negative biew on freaks, but my associate( Guppy) has told me that that doesnt happen and my gun is closed bolt so it will be goo for it, so im gonna get one.

I chewed up the O ring inside my freak last time I played trying to get the barrel off :(

Pure balls up on my part thought, it hadn't gone together properly after I'd cleaned it and the insert had ripped up the O ring. So I assume it's either user error (like mine) or a one off. I've had no problems with my Freak set since I bought it.

Anyone know what size te O ring inside a SS freak back is so I can replace it?

You must make sure to keep a little grease on the o-rings that hold the insert in - if they're dry they tend to peel out when you change the insert.

I'm kicking myself now - I was at Smart Parts today and I did mean to ask if they had any spare o-rings for the freak, just as it happens. But it was the busiest I've ever seen it in there so I just bought my bits and left, and forgot about the o-rings.

little jon.

Why would closed bolt make any difference? I can't think of any.

And as for the Freak - I am not really a fan at all. I had one for a year or so and after getting over the "it's 8 barrels in 1" thing I came to realise that all my barrels shot better and only used it when the paint match on the others wasn't great.

It just didn't shoot as well and had the problems of o-rings etc.

I'm looking into a Powerlyte at the moment, seems a much better system.

OK,

What I think you're talking about is on a closed bolt marker there is no ball detent to hold the ball in place when the bolt is forward (closed). Therefore, if you have too big a bore the balls don't stop and roll out of the barrel.

And while that is true - I had a Freak on my cocker (closed bolt) and still didn't like it!

jeese...

First of all a closed bolt marker is one the shoots the paintball when the bolt is in the forward most position, therefore it pushes the ball into the barrel before it shoots it, and they do have ball detents. If you have to small of an insert it will pinch the ball and break it (gooey) or you are just chopping balls and causing the rest to break in the barrel. Because I think I am guilty on both parts being that i have a freak and a brand new Revenge Cocker by AKA so I am still getting used to it.
