Hi Guys,

This kinda follows on from my post over on 'Newbies'. I was having issues getting my old ASA off. Now thats sorted I've put the new one on.

I've connected the hose and the ASA with the V shaped connector that came in the box so now it looks like this...

http://i996.photobucket.com/albums/af90/jj24paintball/26012010162.jpg

I've turned the gun on, turned the hopper on, screwed the on/off on the ASA and now it fires balls, when i screw the on/off the other way it doesnt use the air and makes the clicking noise when you pull the trigger - so far so good...

The issue I have is that when the ASA is in the 'air on' and its firing position, there is a hiss and I can feel air coming from the 'V' connector where the connector goes into the ASA.

I've screwed it in as far as it will go but theres still thread showing and it wont go in any further. (you can see the remaining thread as the pink bit on it in the picture.

I've checked the hose and it feels like it is in and really secure. I just cant work out how to stop the air escaping through the connector?

Even though the gun is firing I just think in a game the air is going to run out really quickly. Any ideas?

Cheers JJ

Did you use sealant on the elbow (V shaped thing as you call it) threads?

Loctite or PTFE tape should do it.

If you use the PTFE option wrap it around the threads in the opposite direction of the threads so as you tighten the elbow the tape is also tightened

The elbow should have been pre-treated with a coating of sealant/locking compound on the threads if it was new.

If you use PTFE (Plumbers Pipe Sealing Thread) wrap it around the threads in the opposite direction as Spangly suggested. Wrap it round the threads only and not over the open end of the elbow, it has been known for PTFE tape to 'shatter' under the pressure of the air and you don't want the resultant particles entering your reg/gun. Two turns of tape should be more than enough, any more is overkill and will just make it harder to fit the elbow.

PTFE tape is commonly available in DIY, hardware and motor factors stores as well as some large supermarkets.

Also, from your picture, it looks like you could do with a longer piece of macro line, the one you have looks a bit short. Most people prefer to have a bit of extra length so the elbow on the reg can sit at between the reg and the trigger guard, so when you swap hands the elbow doesn't get in the way.

check the bottle oring. it might be coming out of the bottom of the asa. and it looks like the elbow has some sort of sealant . i would remove the old stuff and ptfe it ,and also check the hose it cut straight

this is why you shouldn't mess around with air fittings. Im suprised that fitting hasn't blown out.

Take it to someone who knows what they are doing, before you do yourself some damage.

Cheers for the feedback guys,

Just to clarify the silver ASA and the elbow on it is brand new and that was all that came in the box from dye.
Theres a hole on each side one of the ASA, 1 is sealed with a grey thing over it and the other was an open hole (thats where I put the elbow in).

I wasn't sure if that was the way it was supposed to be fitted but as it didn't come with any other parts I assumed that was how it was meant to be fitted.

The Elbow on the ASA has only been hand tightened and your correct only about 5 or 6 turns then it stopped going in, it hasnt been cross threaded just wont go in further.

I think I'll buy some tape and I've looked on youtube, there's videos on how to appy it to pipes so I'll just follow that and hope for the best :)

(I am really new to this btw but figured better post here rather than newbies)

Cheers,
JJ
