ok, i own a evo 97, i got it chronoed[ifspelt] a couple of weeks ago, think a month actuly, but it was going 270, 230,290,260.

is this normal for a cocker for the FPS to be bouncing like this>???

is there neway to get it to stay between 250-290??

evo is run on a 20oz Co2 bottle on bottom line!,

cheers

AIR will give you more consistancy, what inline reg are you using? generally speaking cockers are quite inconsistant but not normally to the extent that you are seeing, was it cold that day as CO2 is effected by the cold.

Try and borrow an air set up from someone, give that a whirl and see if that makes it more consistant, the stock WGP reg is more then up to the job, I don't think internally there is any differance between that and WGP's ergo reg used on Eclipse cockers, ( I may be wrong here though). As I say try an air setup and see if that helps.
Forgot to ask what is your paint/barrel match like as if you don't have very well fitting paint then your consistancy will be well off!

mmmm, that could be the prob, i had very very dodgy zap and i dont think my barrel is to good,, ill am going up to the NvS game so i can make sure there,,

if i put it on air, do i have to change the reg or something or can i just put air straight onto the bottom line?

cheers.

It depends really on which air system you went for, if you got a preset (AA melee example) then that can screw straight into your bottom line and you're good to go, if you went for an adjustable system (AA Armageddon, governair, Daystate;) etc) then you will replace the bottom line for some form of cradle.
More then likely though it is your paint to barrel match!
What barrel are you using?

I can almost be certain that it's your paint-barrel match.

I run my Evo on CO2, and using Scherer Advantage paint and a boomstick I chrono with as little as +- 2fps variation.

One thing to make sure is that you aren't pointing your barrel "down", which can cause loose paint to roll slightly down the barrel, lowering your velocity differently from shot to shot.

The stock reg should be fine consistency wise on CO2, as should the ergo-reg (which is just the stock reg in drag :) )

See if you can spot a decent deal on a Freak or CP pro in the near future. That will permanently resolve paint to barrel fit in a very cool way, and give you great accuracy and peace of mind. As far as regs go, yeah, try it with air then see how much better it will do for ya. If you still want that extra bit of consistency, try switching to a WDP reg or MacDev Gladiator.
