Ok firstly, please dont respond if you are sponsored with a preset by saying "xxx is the best ever" I need constructive advice for this query.

Im looking into getting a pre set for my alias. My questions are, which would be best to get? High or low pressure? I understand that they can run both just fine, just wondering if one would be more preferable over another?

And which make would be lightest and best (as in efficiency etc)?

So far on pbnation they have advised the Crossfire, but if memory serves me right, aren't they quite big?

Thanks in advance for your help :)

depends on marker

well im sure it depends on your marker if it takes low or high pressure..
been told that low pressure markers are easier on brittle paint..
make sense.. but is it true .. yet to find out. :)

crossfires arnt the smallest of regs but they aint the biggest by far (they do stick a stupidly massive guage on them though),

You wanna look at consistancy and size - if your marker will take it i'd go for high pressure everytime.

Considered PMI?

Bolter, the crossfire is quite a good reg as is the PMI.

would recommend you go for low pressure or up to 650psi max. Timmys will work fine with hp regs but from what i was told they will make the other regs work harder needing more servicing etc.

ran my timmy last year on a 450 preset at times and had no problems.

You can always consider the Nitro Duck, screws in like a pre-set but totally adjustable.

In terms of efficiency and concistency they are all exactly the same.

It doesnt matter whether you use a HP or LP as long as your front reg can regulate it down to the right pressure.

The Nitroduck Xstream (worth considering although technically not a preset) are about an inch longer than the rest and crossfire have those big silly gauges.

Also the fact that people on PBNation recommend the crossfire would put me off getting one.

Thats about it.

I use a crossfire and have never had a roblem with the guage and have found that size wise its fine. The only other pre set that comes close to the crossfire's recharge rates is the PMI Pure energy whiich is another exceptional reg.

I would recommend HP since the flow rate is meant to be more censistent and HP regs also give marginally better efficiency.

Most of the team run crossfire regs with at least one PMI and we have found them to be oustanding.

We will be at the NSPL this weekend if you wanna have a look at either and see how they perform.

That is very suprising.

Firstly its only going to affect the foregrip reg as that is the only part that will see a difference in pressure.

Secondly the reg would have to be very poor quality, for the input pressure to have any effect on wear.
And I always thought the torpedo was a good reg.

Hmmm im not convinced about that one either.

The amount of air you can get through a reg is dependant on the flow restriction through the reg and the pressure difference between the input and the output.

So for the same reg and bottle pressure, a lower output would have better flow, and if anything be more concistent.

As for efficiency, I dont see how it makes a difference either.

You cant buy X-streams over here anymore, and you can only buy them in the US attached to a DOT bottle. So for all intents and purposes they aren't any new ones available.

The only caveat I can think of for running high pressure is that if your HPR fails I'd rather have 450psi hitting my marker then 850.

X-Streams are still available over here attached to pye bottles, it may even still be possible to buy them as a separate reg that you can put your own bottle on.
