I have an air cylinder that I'm intending to post over to Poland to Safer's production plant to get repaired, what postal service should I use and what should I be aware of posting air cylinder internationally?

As long as the bottle is empty and unpressurized there should not be any problem. (remove the regulator from the bottle.)
Always check the carriers prohibited and restricted items list
If it says no cylinders then it means no cylinders - even depressurised because they were meant to be depressurised anyway
Even with the regulator removed it could be picked out as a cylinder on x-Ray
An option if you know any Polish is that there are regular vans passing between the UK and Poland, check with your local Poles and they could recommend one

I have never had any problems with any country where I sent or received a bottle. However do as Tommikka say, just to be on the safe side.
I don't know who but there are obviously couriers about who do take them otherwise paintball shops wouldn't sell them online.
