Obviously how many pods they hold, but when one is listed as say a 4+3, only 4 are ever shown in place. Where do the '+3' pods go?

Well, here's an example:

I have a 3+2+2. This means that it has three main pot holders - I.E. The decent ones.

It also has 2 cheap elastic pot holders, hence the second 2.

Finally, it has 2 more cheap elastic holders which are in an awkward place, so they are a pain to use.

Hope that helps a bit. It's kind of hard to explain the third number.

Edit: What stevenrules said, he beat me to it. :p

Thanks guys! So really just take note of the first number then, as the other slots are far from ideal.

Not necessarily, often the +2 or +3 are a great way of taking extra paint onto the field yet retaining a slim profile, as they snuggle in between the first row of pots. You might not want to dive or slide on your ass as much with them in, but they're very easy to remove and reload with if your at a back bunker railing paint.

Think of the first number as the 'bulk' of your pack, size wise, as there will be this many chunky holders. The second number are 'optional' holders for pots which can usually be squished away if unused for a tight profile. Together you get the maximum number of pots you can get on the field. (bar shoving them in your pocket etc ;) )
