I'm fairly new to the game and was wondering what the pro and cons are to each of the guns and which would be better for me? I play front atm.

look you are not likley to have the marker for long as you will want to pay £800 and get a ego 09 and then give up paintball 9 months later

ok thats a bit harsh

the ion is like a nokia phone it works very very well and has all the ups you could ever want

pmr a dam good gun and will shoot fools all day long

choice is your play paintball and have fun

PS my ion shoots 36 balls per second but its all caped at 12 in torny ok

ye pretty much all tournaments are capped at 12bps so its pointless buying a gun that can fire 30bps when you wont have the chance to use it apart from in your backgarden.

and as for ion v pmr.
the ion has MANY MANY MANY upgrades for it so can be upgraded exactly how you want it.

i've shot both and i personaly dont like the stock trigger on the pmr but the stock trigger on the ion is pretty good.

so if i were you try them both out before you buy,
and mybe if you can dig slightly deeper into your pockets you might be able to buy a ego5/6 or something like that from the for sale section.

Go with the PMR because overall it is a better marker hands down.

It's advantages over the Ion are few but fairly important as far as I'm concerned, because it has the good bolt out back system, which makes cleaning and maintenance a snap, but it also has a better feed neck then the ion, although admittadly that isn't that good. Also it comes with a better stock barrel, lighter overall weight and the stock board is better then the ion's as it's easier to adjust and comes with debounce, although it's under the name of trigger sensitivity for some reason! And lastly the stock ASA is far better the the Ion's as well, by a long way!

The only real problems with the PMR are the Bolt End Cap because it's made from plastic and is likely to strip requiring you to buy an Aluminium one, the plastic feed neck because if you are not careful with it, you might end up cracking it and finally the trigger. Although the trigger is too bad, it may not be to most people's liking. It's not likely to break unless you're especially vigourous with it but some people just prefer a different feel, really it's a matter of opinion.

But overall, the PMR is still better then an Ion because the Ion requires you to upgrade virtually everything to get a decent marker out of it and trust me I own both of them!

when my marker wasnt working, i used somones Ion, its ok, but the trigger is to sensitive, and the grips arnt very comfy, it has a bit too much kick aswell, but it has good accuracy,

Everybody always says about the Ion that you can upgrade it and blah blah blah... but after spending what £200 on upgrading to a decent marker you begin to realise that you could have just brought a great marker for the amount you have spend on upgrading your Ion. I think that my PMR is great and doesn't require as much money to get it the way you want to, unlike the Ion.

Shot my PMR for the first time last weekend... was awsome!

I found it shot very accurate however, it maybe abit air hungry so i've had to upgrade to a 1.1 bottle.

Had a slight problem with it half way through the day were it was shotting curve shots... it was like having a apex on it lol but was fixed with my trusty squeegee :D

This is my first marker and have been able to maintain it with ease so far.

Upgrades....
- I've already upgraded the bolt end cap as i've heard the plastic ones arent all great
- I've found the standard trigger to be ok... I find it easy to shot with so may just keep it unless I get to try out someone's PMR with an overmarket trigger and find it better
- Barrel maybe my next upgrade... but as I said before... the marker is shotting nicely atm so this can wait

Great marker!
