PMR + Cold = Soup

Guys,

I know there is a squillion and one posts/threads re: cold weather and Proto/Dyes, but I was just wondering what everyone is running regarding dwell and first shot drop off on the PM6 and PMR range.

I was shooting a lot of soup this weekend, and was gonna up my dwell from stock, so just wondered what others have been using as a succesful setup?

Both PM6 and PMR (limited edition) are stock internally.

You can get around the fsdo by upping your dwell a couple of notches. however, the soup is most likely down to the paint quality and/or storage, especially in the cold.

Well I used three brands of paint. All were kept warm until the bag was opened as the site owner kindly let me leave it behind the counter near the heater (but not too close).

Started off with Draxxus Frostbite (soup)

Moved onto Draxxus Blaze (soup)

Then out of frustration onto the site paint (soup) which for the life of me I can't recall, might be the premium that MadCowMan mentioned.

I'm new to being a Proto owner previously having a very much up'd ion, and I can glady boast I did not get one barrel break all last winter and I used a combo of Blaze and Frostbite. It got to the point where I even stopped carrying a fluffy.

I've confidence in the Draxxus paint (it's from LPS), so I can't help but think it is down to the settings in my marker. I knew my Ion inside out and knew what to do to get the dwell in that sweet spot between good air efficiency and to ensure it didnt cause probs with the paint. I want to do the same with my Proto's.

I didn't use my ABS, cos I wasn't gonna start messing about with it on the day without knowing what to set it to.

Can anyone give me some good advice regarding help with settings anyone?

Hi

Make sure your ABS is on. Up your dwell from stock (25) to 30.
Keep your bolt well lubed, pay good care to the front wall 017 o-ring, the bolt sail and the 009 'boost' o-rings. This will keep the bolt in the best possible condition.
Check your detents are not worn down.
Make sure you always have fresh batteries in your loader and your PMR.

Thanks

I was using Blaze & DXS Silver on Sunday at 9 degrees with no issues in my DM7. Frostbite was being used by most. All batches are the same that Lips have been sent.

I would suggest checking those detents. Rails are normally ok must be something like Ash has suggested.

Neil at Heaven is always good to get in contact with - or Lips for that matter.
