How good is the stock PMR barrel? i bought a PMR recently and as itchy triggered as i've been i not been able to test it out! would like to know if an upgrade is necessary and what kind?

For normal paint and for general use the stock barrel is good.

If however you feel the need to increase your accuracy by promoting grouping of paint, then a barrel system that allows close paint to bore matching will help.

I tried the dye ul range and couldnt get on with it, so I went back to a freak system which I have a lot of confidence in. It works for me, and so I'm happy. Something else might be your preference.

Try what you got first, and if you aint happy, have a look around.

think i will only be using it for walkons for now but im used to using a BT4 ironhorse with an apex barrel which is quite accurate itself and reading reviews of the PMR on pbreview nearly all of them say a barrel upgrade would be a good idea

how much do full freak kits go for usually?

Mooching round the 50, with the flag
Depends on age and the number of inserts and tips, anything from £30 up really

If you're after a freak set I have an old style stainless steel back (autococker threaded so would be fine on the pmr), 3 inserts and two tips (one blue, one silver)for sale if you were interested.

used the stock barrel on a walkon and really didnt get on with it ... its ok for short range as i was impressed when shooting on the range, but i picked up a ul and so far i realy like it. Most people, money dependant, go for a ul or freak (save up to get a good barrel / barrel system rather than buying one you dont get on with and then having to upgrade again ;))

Speaking for a friend who has a PMR, he hated the stock barrel because he said the bore size was too small and kept breaking paint..... switched to a freak kit and has been happy since.
