PM8 with only 1 detent

Hi,

So I bought a PM8 from these forums a few weeks back. I took it out on Saturday and it seemed to work pretty well. Had to replace a few O-rings and what not, but got it working all good. But today I was having a play and noticed that there's only 1 detent knuckle in the breach holding the paintballs back. So reached for my allen keys and tried to take the plate off to have a little lookie. However the screw holding the plate on has been stripped and so an allen key won't fit it any more. :(

So my question is three fold. 1, does it matter I've only got 1 detent? It seemed to work okay on Saturday. And two, anyone know if you can still buy the little screws and/or the plates/covers covering them? Lastly, does anyone have any advice on why to get these bad boys out?

Cheers

hi buddy

this is a common problem with those little recessed eye cover screws, and this makes them very tricky to get out esspecially if you don't want to damage the cover so i would say your best first step before you do anything else would be to give dye a ring to see if they have any more of them or post up in the wanted forum, the screws shouldn't be a problem as i believe they still use them to hold the little rubber contact pads in place on the newer dye guns

however in theory it should work with one detent but if that one get's stuck even for a moment you'll be showering balls from the end of your barrel so it's best to use two

in terms of getting it off you're probably going to have to be brutal with a small (jewelry type) flat head screw driver/ torx bit and a hammer, the idea is to hammer/ cut a groove in the screw and use that to unscrew it but this is made much harder by the recessed screws so it's easier to destroy the eye cover and just get a replacement if you can but being careful not to damage the body of the gun

not good news, but hope this helps

Im sure foot and his tool box can sort this :)

I found that a Torx bit and a Hammer worked on rounded heads for me ( Well did on my Creed)

Or another thing you could drill the screw out. Again this has worked for me
