Hello and welcome to the mad world.

Try posting "Marker Wanted" in the classified section, quoting your budget, preference of marker and remember anything else you may need, such as:

Goggles, worth spending money on
Hopper, such as X-board Revi
CO2 or Air
Pants, shirts, gloves, Pads.

If you have any questions PM me or ask on the boards.

if your looking for gear you can normally find some bargins in the classifieds or if you get no luck there, shop around ebay, there normally good gear going on there.
if i was you id ask for each piece of kit individually - more likely to get responses and offers!!

good luck dude

Richie, first of all let me welcome you to the sport. Its a crazy world out there and you need to be able to understand the hype, and also the main things you need to start up.

As Supersol has already said, Goggle are the main item of equipment you need. Once you have boiught a decent pair of there, you will be sorted. There are usually plenty of spare markers at touraments and borrowing one is not hard, especially with a team like the Carrots. I know a few and they are a quality bunch of guys.

Now, are you sure its a Shocker that you want? Have you tried any other markers? The best thing I can suggest ot to buy "What Paintball Gear" and start reading as much as you can about the technical side of markers. It won't take long to get the basics, then all you need to do is to go out and try them. You will find that most players will only be too happy to let you have a go with their marker. Us Paintballers are helpful like that :p

Once you have got a preference for what feels right and what fits your style of play best, you can start looking for markers for sale. With a budget of £250 you are probabily looking at buying a marker that runs off CO2 instead of air. The added initial expense of getting a second hand marker with an air system is something you don't need when starting up. Cockers and Shockers run off both air and CO2, and are usually a good start for most entry level tournament players. Give them a look in, but the best advice I can give someone in your position is to try as much as you can out there, and make your own mind up. Remember, its alright listening to other people, but they don't have to play with the marker you choose and probabily have different playing styles anyway!

Good luck and just stick to what you feel comfortable with.

See you at a tourney soon :)

Richie, welcome to the carrots, speak to Andy or Gary they will gove some good advice re markers

as shuck says you may have trouble getting a marker on air for £250, although if you can find your self a older cocker or similar for £200 you can get 3000psi preset bottles and regs for £70-£80 nowadays so you may not be that far off.

I know my nephew has a spyder AMG electronic marker on air (dot bottle though) with electronic hopper which I'm sure he would let you have for £250 as he is unlikely to play much now I have packed in. I'll get in touch with him and let you know!

Good luck and I may see you at sometime next year ! Have decided to hang up my marker for a while and go back to my first love, Rugby,

Shuck I see you are back playing for Acklam, hopefully I will have you heaving up my arse soon, sorry to evryone else, its a tight five joke! ;)

Ohhh, rugby, its like legalised assault !

Email me your details and i'll send you a VL revo for free, to get you started - call it an early Christmas present.

As for markers, all I will say is that personal preference has a lot to do with it. You should be able to pick up a good 2nd hand cocker for around £200, and you can upgrade it as you go along.

If you don't fancy a Cocker, a marker that is "out of fashion" at the moment is the BM200, or BM2K, or whatever number they're on now!

This is a good, lightweight electronic marker which can be bought very cheaply - spares are cheap, also - just see the Planet Eclipse online shop.

Good luck, mate!

:)
