This will play ANY PS3 game from around the world as they are region free, including the UK ones when they are released.

Not 100% true as although Sony are not forcing region coding, it is still down to the publishers choice wether or not to implement it. Kinda like what Microsoft does. Either way, games will still be cheaper on import even if a few do start doing it.

Rather good price though considering what you're getting.

Another point of interest for you bud, is that my sources say that they are having trouble with the programming of the region free software and they are pushing back the release date till september this year...in time for this year's christmas.

at least thats the rumour going round his circle of reputable associates.

UK release date has now been revealed, sometime in march apprently. Snap this up, core units are going to be a stupid price, this is a bargain!
