Well crumpler you're looking at a couple of different things there. You were originally asking about woodsball, then started talking about a tournament style walk-on site - tournaments came out of the woods many years ago.

Most of the sites in areas like Norfolk are rental customer sites, and the majority of people who come on here have their own kit. So though these places are doing OK with their rental customers you're unlikely to get many of the people who hang out on P8nt wanting to use rental kit or pay rental prices for paint & game fees.

You might get a better response if you more clearly defined what type of ball you want to play. Woodland walk-on? Big/scenario games? Tournament type training? Sup'Air walk-on? Or rental play.

So speak to the local sites and find out if any of them have an own-gunners walk-on day. They don't normally hold them every weekend, because they don't always like the own-gunners to mix in with the rental customers (firepower advantage etc). The paintballs will normaly be cheaper than usual rental prices. If there are any other players with there own kit around you might be able to meet some of them at these days. Of course it would mainly be woodland players you'd come accross, unless the sites have sup'air/hyperball tourney style fields. If none of them hold an own own gunners day, then you might have to travel further afield.

Best of luck. :)
