This is not a comment on the happenings at STB, I was'nt there and there's a thread running on that already.............

But after this w-ends "comunity cup" and the several red & yellow cards, is this now a sign Paintball is at last getting its house in order ?? IS this a good thing (I defenately thing so )

And how far do we take this ? Month ban for wipping ?

1 4 1 on the show of a yellow card, 2 4 1 on a red ?

rules for 1-4-1 are fine, as are the other penalities. Nothing needs to be taken any further, just present rules enforced.

Imagine, a tourney when all the rules are actually enforced as per the rule book. I'll certainly be shocked when it actually happens.
Fine, come watch my team marshall at Campaign. All that needs to happen is that the rules are enforced to the letter. So many of the problems occur when marshalls watch the games rather than marshall the players. Thats why there are few penalties assessed on the pors for instance, cos the judges are starstruck and watch the moves and the shots the guys make rather than marshalling them. The judges at Joy were the first i have seen this year with the balls to ref how it should be, not letting some por teams get away with hell. I cant wait to marshall LaSoya and co at Campaign, cos if they misbehave on our field, they're gonna be 1-4-1'd straight away.

An Advance warning to those playing Campaign, when you walk on our field behave or be penalised!

I don't doubt that at every event there are fields which are marshalled perfectly, however, for every field that is good, there is one that is bad.

I'm just waiting for a tourney when what is laid out in the captains meeting and the tourney rules is stuck to, by all fields, and by every team.

Is it to much to ask that all fields have the same "guns up/down, one foot in, both feet in, do the hokey-cokey" start routine? And when a tourney organiser says that a certain paint is banned, teams don't use it? the list goes on.

And Sam, I've seen you and your lot marshal - respect for doing a decent honest job.

I think it's good that disciplinary procedures are being implemented both in the Millennium and in the UK. Domestically however there are some problems that should be addressed that will help the situation at home and the validity of the process.

Can we please standardise our rulebooks based on the Millennium Series rules. This is the most developed tournament rulebook in Europe that is continually tested and improved at the highest level of play. Its rules have been developed over time to remove problems on field. Although not perfect they are extremely developed in comparison to some of the tournament rules that are used domestically. I feel that at home we just ignore this wealth of experience.

Using these more developed rules and helping our marshals to implement them will improve our tournaments no end, our disciplinary procedures will stand on solid foundations giving them greater power and validity.

Thats an excellent idea Alan, and hopefully it will be implemented for the 2004 season. Would be nice to get some standardised rules.

Thanks, come Campaign we will be determined to do the best job that we can, over the full three days. It wont matter if you are a seasoned pro on Dynasty, or a first time player in the Nov section, you can all expect the same treatment, fair and impartial, down the line by the rules. Look forward to it!

Sam:)
