Daft question but currently my cockers imput pressure is regulated by an AIR Armegeddon, which you manually (alum key) clock in to the pressure. Two questions

1: What does this on/off purge thing do?
2: Its not a air reg right? so why do you need one?

If you do get a marker with one on, what happens if you say try and stick a Scion Air on to your marker? And then why pay £300 for a Scion Air??

It's just an on/off ASA and rail, for use with a pre-set. All it does is provide something for the pre-set to attach to and allow you to turn off air flow into the marker by twisting the knob :)eek: ).

If you get amarker with an on/off on it and want to put a scion on, take the on/off off and attach the scion reg in its place.

It's an ASA - so you screw in a preset and it acts as an On/Off

If you get an adjutable (Scion, Armie etc) then you just remove the ASA, you could use the rail if it suited you.

ASA means Air Source Adaptor. If you run a preset, you need an ASA. It is basically a big gas fitting.

If you run an adjustable reg (like the Scion) it has its own gas fitting integrated into it, so an ASA is not required.

because it doesn't :)

An ASA doesn't have anything to do with the regulation of the air, that's the job of the reg on the bottle of a preset.

The bottle of an adjustable screws into the reg directly, that happens (in the case of a scion) to look like an ASA.

So it's more like £150 for preset (inc bottle) + ASA
against
£300 for adjustable.

An ASA isn't a regulator. It's just something to attach a pre-set regulator to so that it can be used on the marker.

If you chose to use a gun mounted reg like the scion or angel AIR then you wouldn't need an ASA because the reg itself attaches to the marker, but pre-set regs are much smaller and don't have that ability, so an ASA is used to allow them to attach to the marker.

Pre-sets are (exclusively, I think?) lighter than larger marker mounted regs and are also cheaper. Most pre-sets nowadays offer almost the same level of performance as marker mounted regs.

The "purge" bit allows you to continue undoing the on/off once you've actually turned the gas flow off and vent any remaining gas in the marker.

Just means you don't have to fire off the gas in the marker after turning it off which is probably a lot healthier and less annoying to those around you if you are dismantling your marker in a staging area.
