I thought it was...

Phoenix
Team Phoenix
Phoenix 5

Admittedly slightly confusing, but I also find the white/red/blue heat thing confusing too

Yes, it is just as confusing for us too - especially when you read that your team are having a profile done in PBUK, only to find out it is not your team.

Team Phoenix (originally us, now apparently just Phoenix) was started around 1990, Phoenix 5 were the guys from the Phoenix site who decided to start entering 5 mans and the new Team Phoenix (factory team) obviously want to use their business's name - so there we have it - 3 x Phoenix.

At the moment, we are all playing different leagues/divisions so it isn't really a problem and I don't think "sport" status is likely to cause any name change requirements in the foreseeable future.

Let's just say that it doesn't really bother us, especially considering that we were asked if it was OK if the factory Team Phoenix used the name too - I'm just glad there's a Team Phoenix out there doing well in an A division :( and we're on pretty good terms with Phoenix 5 too.

So who knows what will happen in the next year or so, with the advent of more 7 man tourneys and teams losing players, poaching, fielding ringers/guests, amalgamating or splitting up - there could be a Phoenix Red, White and Blue! ;) or maybe none at all.

We'll probably all still be balling though, whatever the name.

Red, White & Blue are 3 levels in the Red Heat Squad nothing confusing about that

We could have called them
Team Red Heat Red
Team Red Heat White
Team Red Heat Blue
now that would have sounded really wierd :D

rather like The RPS Viper squads and I think they have used 5 colours so far.

My point is that three totally seperate teams with the same or very similar names are not normally allowed in sports circle.
Nothing against the teams, but if and when we get recognised as a sport then teams will need to be registered and 2 of the phoenix teams will have to lose thier name.

Was waiting for that one :)
These teams were formed before the current rules were drawn up and as both these teams are professional, there would be great difficulty imposing that ruling.

Hmmm, so what you are saying Eric is that all three Phoenix teams should attain professional status before Paintball is regulated and they'll be OK? I'm up for that - even if it is wishful thinking ;) :D.

Jeez, looking at some of our players (no names mentioned), I think our Phoenix was formed before the earth's crust. :D

I know what you are saying, I just don't think Paintball will be recognised as a professional sport for a long time yet, sadly - so most of our team will probably be in nursing homes.

Actually m8 if you became professional you could force the other teams to change thier names as your's I believe is the original.
And the rules apply to to all new sports and new teams. We got this in american football and covers other sports. The Huddersfield Giants Rugby team should have been named the Huddersfield Rams, but the name is registered to the Yorkshire (formally Huddersfield) Rams American Football team and it was easier to change the name to Giants than go through all the rigmorole argue over the name.
