Now paintball is reaching the parts other sports don't, isn't it time we had permanent refs, that are paid to ref the major tournaments.

there are.
the ultimate field refs are paid a decent amount to run and ref the fields, and the quality of reffing (or atleast consistenty) is much better than it has been in the past.

You looking for a job then Tom?

You can have the best ultimates in the world, but its the normal refs that can turn the games.
If they wanna be biased they will and theres nothing anyone can do about it!

Agreed and that is one of my biggest frustrations, especially when the team-refs don't even show up for the referees' meetings so they can hear what is expected of them.

I'll say again that I believe we have made great progress with this year's pro reffing program. We have a core crew of top level head referees who have worked at each event. Andy Scutt and Kenneth Borg have been to every event; Martin (Flisan) Klasson has been the head referee of a totally paid-pro-reffing field at both 7-player-only events. Most of the paid-pro field refs were at the other events. So it is a real good start.

At both 7-player-only events the promoter almost had a heart attack when I presented them with the bill for the expenses involved. It ain't cheap.

The pro head field referee program which includes at least one fully paid-pro field at each tournament has increased the quality and consistency of officiating tremendously IMO. The next logical step will be to evolve complety to fully pro reffing.

Needs to be done but money is the major issue.

Reduce the points they're getting, then.
